Spouse Visa FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

The minimum income requirement is currently £29,000 per year before tax. This is due to increase to £34,500 from April 2025 and £38,700 from April 2026. However, you can also use combined income (e.g. your partner’s salary plus your income from certain non-UK sources), savings above £16,000, or other income sources such as pensions or rental income. We will assess your specific situation and advise on the best way to meet the requirement.
Standard processing for a spouse visa application made from outside the UK is typically 12 to 24 weeks. Priority services may be available at additional cost (paid to the Home Office), which can reduce processing to around 6 weeks. Applications made from within the UK (switching) may take 8 to 12 weeks. We will advise on the most current processing times during your consultation.
You need to provide evidence covering the full period of your relationship. This typically includes: correspondence (messages, emails, letters), photographs together, evidence of time spent together, joint financial commitments (joint bank accounts, bills, tenancy), and statements from yourself and your partner. We will help you structure this evidence clearly so the Home Office can easily see the genuineness of your relationship.
Yes, you may be able to switch to a spouse visa from within the UK if you are already in the UK on a valid visa (such as a Student visa or Work visa) and you meet the eligibility requirements. Not all visa routes allow switching, so we will assess your current immigration status and advise whether an in-country application is possible, or whether you need to apply from outside the UK.
