Navigating Your UK Digital Immigration Status

The UK is replacing physical immigration documents (such as Biometric Residence Permits — BRPs) with eVisas — a digital record of your immigration status. While this modernisation aims to make the system more secure, it has left many migrants confused, frustrated, and uncertain about how to prove their rights.

Green Vision Immigration Services provides clear, patient, and practical support for all eVisa enquiries. Whether you cannot access your UKVI account, your eVisa shows incorrect details, or you simply do not understand what your digital status means, we are here to help.

UKVI Account Setup & Access — We guide you step-by-step through creating or recovering your UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account so you can view your eVisa.
Understanding Your Status — We explain what your eVisa says, including your conditions (e.g., work, study, public funds) and whether you have pre-settled or settled status.
Correcting Errors — If your eVisa contains wrong information (name, date of birth, nationality), we advise on how to report and resolve these errors with the Home Office.
Sharing Your Status — We help you generate share codes to prove your rights to employers (right to work), landlords (right to rent), and at the UK border.
Technical Issue Resolution — If you are experiencing “status not found” errors, identity verification failures, or digital exclusion, we provide practical support to resolve these barriers.
Vulnerable Client Support — We are experienced in assisting clients with language barriers, limited digital skills, or those who lack access to the necessary technology.

Transitioning from a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) to a UK eVisa digital status
BRP Expiry

The Transition from BRP to eVisa

All Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) expired on 31 December 2024. If you previously relied on your BRP to prove your immigration status, you must now use your eVisa instead. You do not need to apply for an eVisa — it is automatically generated if you have an active immigration permission.

However, accessing and understanding your eVisa is not always straightforward. Many people are unaware their BRP has expired, do not know how to access their digital status, or are worried about travelling without their physical card.

No application needed — Your eVisa is created automatically if you have valid leave to remain or settled status.
Travel without your BRP — You can travel to the UK using just your eVisa and valid passport, with a share code if requested at the border.
Update your employer/landlord — You must provide your new eVisa share code to your employer or landlord to continue proving your rights.
We guide you through it — We help you access your account, understand your status, generate share codes, and resolve any issues that arise.

Frequently Asked Questions About eVisas

An eVisa is a digital record of your immigration status in the UK. It replaces physical documents like Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) and vignettes in passports. It shows your right to be in the UK, your conditions of stay (e.g., whether you can work or study), and how long you can stay. You access it online through your UKVI account.
No. You do not need to apply for an eVisa. It is automatically created if you have valid immigration permission (such as pre-settled status, settled status, indefinite leave to remain, or a work/family visa). You simply need to set up a UKVI account to access it.
All BRPs expired on 31 December 2024. If you have valid immigration status, your eVisa has automatically replaced it. Your immigration status has not changed — only the way you prove it has changed. If you need help accessing your eVisa, book a consultation and we will guide you through the process.
You need to generate a share code through your UKVI account. This code allows your employer to view your immigration status online and verify your right to work. The code is valid for 30 days. We can help you generate this code and understand what your employer will see.
If your eVisa shows incorrect personal details (such as a misspelt name, wrong date of birth, or missing nationality), you must report this to the Home Office. The process for correcting errors depends on the type of mistake. We can assess the error, advise on the correct procedure, and help you communicate with the Home Office to get it fixed.
Yes. You can travel to the UK using your valid passport combined with your eVisa. You no longer need your BRP to travel. However, it is advisable to generate a share code before you travel in case border officials ask to verify your status. We recommend generating this code before your journey.
